About The Cherry Tree

Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Tree” was initially released in 1889 and follows the story of a destitute family living on their farmstead. The father has recently passed away, leaving his wife to take care of her three children by herself. One day she finds out that her cherry tree is producing fruit which could be sold at market for extra money; however, when one of her sons cuts down the tree without permission it leads to an unfortunate sequence resulting in tragedy and sorrow as each character deals with guilt over what they have done or neglected to do.
