The Trojan War was a legendary battle between the early Greeks and Trojans that is believed to have taken place in around 1200 BC. It began when Paris, prince of Troy, abducted Helen from her husband Menelaus who ruled Sparta at the time. In response to this act by Paris, an alliance led by Agamemnon (king of Mycenae) gathered together a large army which sailed across the Aegean Sea with one purpose: To bring back Helen and punish those responsible for taking her away from Greece. After 10 years long siege on city walls finally fell due to trickery involving wooden horse filled with Greek soldiers inside it; thus ending up victorious against Trojans.
